Hadfield Football Club was formed in 1971. The junior club, Hadfield Youth Club Football Club commenced in the mid 1960s and it was after this time that the senior club was formed and joined the Essendon District Football League.
In that same year they won the C grade Premiership. Further success followed in 1979 where Hadfield played A grade for a number of years before going back to B grade and then winning the B grade flag in 1989.
Junior success occurred around 2003 and for a number of years the club enjoyed numerous junior premierships up until recently. The football club, in the early days, played at Northpark Primary School oval, Hadfield High School and Reddish Reserve before moving its base to Martin Reserve, where it exists today.
The club rooms at Martin Reserve are named after Ken and Marilyn Don, two life members of the club who put their heart and soul into the Football Club throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
