What is Active Moreland?
Active Moreland is an initiative developed by Moreland City Council to make it easier for more people to be more active more often.
Active Moreland has four key goal areas:
- Active people - Targeting people who are least likely to participate and encouraging lifelong participation for better health and wellbeing.
- Active opportunities - Supporting people to access quality opportunities that meet individual needs.
- Active places - Developing suitable infrastructure to support participation.
- Active together - Working with others to support the development of and provision of opportunities.
A key focus of Active Moreland is to ensure that people who are least likely to participate are supported and encouraged to get active. See accessibility and participation support to see some of the services we provide.
Moreland's aquatic and leisure centres play an important part of Active Moreland together with the clubs and activity groups which use Moreland's sportsgrounds and venues.
Active Moreland offers years 9, 10, 11 and 12 students work placement opportunities at our aquatic and leisure facilities.
Work experience with Active Moreland provides students with the environment to develop employability skills, in particular opportunities to commence their career as a casual employee, understand employer expectations and increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence and self-confidence.
